How to Leave a Toxic Relationship When You’re Still in Love

Clinging girlfriend

“Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.” ~Marilyn Monroe

Why does it have to hurt so badly?

You’re so in love, but your relationship has become toxic. It simply can’t continue.

Night after sleepless night, you lie awake replaying the fights in your head.

You can’t understand why your partner won’t change or how they can simply ignore how you feel. You wonder if they ever truly loved you.

You’ve tried everything to save your relationship, but nothing’s worked. You know it’s time to end it, yet the thought of being alone petrifies you.

But still, the pain has become too unbearable. If you don’t end things now, you might completely lose yourself.

Learning to Let Go

Letting go of someone you care about is definitely a difficult thing to do.

I was forced to accept that my relationship with my ex wasn’t meant to be.

The lies and the cheating became too much to handle. And to make matters worse, he was also physically abusive to me.

The blows were so unexpected. I never knew if the next argument would put me in the hospital, or maybe worse, be my last.

I wanted him to stop hurting me. I wanted him to understand that his behavior tore me apart inside.

Studies funded by a garlic supplement maker find specific health benefits for garlic. The score: 119/11.

I’m having trouble keeping up with industry-sponsored nutrition research so will use this week’s posts to catch up.  I’ll start with this one.

Nutrition journals often publish supplements on specific themes that are paid for by outside parties, food industry groups among them.  The February 2016 issue of the Journal of Nutrition contains a supplement with the papers from the 2014 International Garlic Symposium: “Role of Garlic in Cardiovascular Disease Prevention, Metabolic Syndrome, and Immunology.”

To distinguish supplement papers from peer-reviewed journal articles, citations give page numbers with the letter S.  The Journal of Nutrition’s exceptionally clear policy on supplement publications explains that organizers are expected to pay page charges of $75 per article and $300 per published page plus additional editorial costs as needed.  It views supplements as paid advertisements and requires full disclosure of funding sources.

Here’s the disclosure for the garlic supplement.

The symposium was sponsored by the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine and the University of Florida and co-sponsored by the American Botanical Council; the American Herbal Products Association; the ASN [American Society for Nutrition]; the Japanese Society for Food Factors; the Japan Society for Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Agrochemistry; the Japan Society of Nutrition and Food Science; and the Na…

3 Surprising Benefits of Pursuing Your Passions Outside of Work

Source: http://greatist.com/live/follow-your-passion?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=feed_http–greatistcom-

We may be in the depths of winter, but before you blink, it’ll be spring. Then the long, balmy summer nights will be here, and suddenly—holy sh*t—it’s the holidays again.

When next winter arrives on your doorstep, how do you want to feel? More alive, inspired, and full? Do you want to feel more like who you really are, more connected to the inner you, and more fire in your spirit?

Well, there’s a shortcut to achieving that: setting aside at least four to six hours per week to do what you love. Block off chunks of time in your calendar like any other non-negotiable appointment.

Whether your dream is to make your hobby a priority during the busy workweek or to make your passion profitable by starting a side gig, there is no time like the present to begin using your natural talents to elevate your spirit (and maybe even your bank balance).

When you make your passions as important as your workouts, date nights, and undying commitment to Bravo, amazing things start to happen.

Here are just a few of the hobbies and side hustles my clients have picked up: singing part-time, creating beautiful aprons, starting a high-end matchmaking service, health coaching, creating organic skin-care products, customizing healthy family meal plans on a budget, designing custom bras, making travel plans, helping entrepreneurs create high-impact personal brands, and writing a novel. Phew. The options are truly unlimited and endless!

Why Rom-Coms Can Be Dangerous (Beyond Unrealistic Expectations)

Source: http://greatist.com/live/rom-coms-can-be-dangerous?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=feed_http–greatistcom-

It would be pretty creepy if someone broke into your bedroom, read your diary, and then bought you a new one for “a fresh start”— but it’s super cute when Colin Firth does it to Bridget Jones, right?

A new study found we rationalize the stalking behavior—the classic over-the-top-win-her-back gesture—that’s central to many romantic comedies and start to think of it as sweet. So the guy holding up the signs on Christmas Eve in Love Actually isn’t romantic. Remember the video he recorded of Keira Knightley’s character at her wedding? It’s basically the definition of stalking. (Worth noting: Men aren’t always the offenders. Jennifer Garner’s aggressive character in 13 Going on 30 is also a perfect example.)

In the study, women watched part of a movie where a man pursues a woman. The movies were either portrayed as scary or romantic. Women who watched a rom-com were more likely to agree with common “stalking myths,” like “an individual who goes to the extremes of stalking must really feel passionately for his/her love interest.” Because love usually trumps everything else in these movies, it’s harder to see the romantic gestures as creepy.

That doesn’t mean you’re going to fall in love with your stalker if you’re the type of person who adores rom-coms. But you may think someone showing up to your apartment unannounced after you told them you weren’t interested is just trying to be nice, says Julia Lippman, the study’s author. </p…

The Importance of Educating Youth About Farming

The Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture is a nonprofit, four-season farm and education center, located just 25 miles north of New York City, that invites young children with their parents to get their hands dirty (literally) and learn about the origins of their food and healthy eating.

One program called “Little Cooks and Little Gardeners” has families with kids as young as ages three to six harvesting vegetables, such as carrots, which they then used to make a carrot-based pesto. Another program targets high school-aged kids in collaboration with actor Adrian Grenier’s organization, SHFT, to create the Mobile Kitchen Classroom, a semester-long program that teaches teens about food science and history, food and the environment, food and justice, and food and community.

In this video interview, Sonima founder Sonia Jones sits down with Jill Isenbarger, the executive director at Stone Barns, to discuss these two important youth programs more in depth. Watch to learn more.

Out for dinner with a group of friends, Christina Dierkes, a science writer with Ohio Sea Grant in Columbus, was feeling adventurous. It took some steely courage to order the Caribbean Roll at Mr. Sushi’s. Not so much for the tuna and avocado on the inside — that’s a combination that’s appealing to most of us. But the tuna sushi in this spectacularly Americanized roll is topped with a deep-fried banana, honey, mayonnaise and a generous dash of coconut crumbs. Yum?

‘It wasn’t awful,” Dierkes says, adding that she pawned most of it off on her friends. “But why would anyone orde…

Exercises You Should Be Doing: Stationary Bear Crawl

Source: http://tonygentilcore.com/2016/02/exercises-you-should-be-doing-stationary-bear-crawl/

Hope everyone enjoyed the game last night.

Congrats to Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos on the win.

But screw the game. Did everyone see that new Jason Bourne teaser trailer?????

It took all the will power I could muster not to start dry humping the television screen. I knew a Bourne movie has been in the works for a while now – because I’m a nerd and read Entertainment Weekly and hang out on IMDB – and had been anticipating something epic in the coming months now that both (Matt) Damon and (Paul) Greengrass are back on board with the franchise.

But I was NOT expecting to see a sneak peak teaser last night. I caught me completely off-guard.

The only thing more manly would have been if it showed Bourne bare knuckle fighting a grizzly bear.

On an aside – and serving as the worst segue in history – I recently recorded a video “chat” with Ryan Ketchum for the Elite Training Mentorship titled Behind the Scenes: Tony Gentilcore on Program Design Made Simple.

As a whole, the Elite Training Mentorship gives you access to monthly “inner circle” content from the likes of E…
