Flow state. The zone. Those special moments when you feel like you’re able to just let go and do. It’s the feeling of being fully immersed in the activity. You’re able to perform naturally and with ease. You’re totally wrapped up in the moment, and time seems to pause or fall away.

“Flow state” is achieved when certain variables all come together. It’s a magical experience and it’s rare to feel totally “in the zone.”

4 Keys To Getting in The Zone

1. Do something you’re incredibly passionate about that really matters to you. This way the activity you’re doing is intrinsically rewarding and you’re receiving the benefits by participating. When you’re excited about the opportunity and enjoying yourself, you’ll  If you’re doing it to appease someone else or because you feel you “should,” it’s less likely you’ll get in the zone.

2. Prep your mind before you start. Remind yourself why you’re doing it, what you want out of it, and what you gotta do to perform well and enjoy yourself. This way your attent…

Homeward Bound!

Hi friends! Matt and I are traveling back to DC today after a wonderful week and a half western Canada hiking extravaganza! Our trip went by way too quickly – we’re sad it’s over already!

You guys weren’t kidding when you said that area of the country is beautiful. Beyond beautiful – we had the best time exploring the Canadian Rockies (and Vancouver)!

I’ll be spending the plane rides today catching up on emails and editing photos (I took approximately 4 million) and will be back tomorrow to resume normal posting. I’m trying to figure out how much detail to share about the trip – I was originally planning to do 3 large recaps (one from each portion of the trip – Banff, Jasper, and Vancouver), but I have so many photos and we di…

Between December and March, beekeepers send millions of hives to California to pollinate almond trees. Not all of the hives make it back home.

“The number of beehive thefts is increasing,” explains Jay Freeman, a detective with the Butte County Sheriff’s Office.

In California, 1,734 hives were stolen during peak almond pollination season in 2016. In Butte County alone, the number of stolen hives jumped from 200 in 2015 to 400 this year, according to Freeman.

Water creates an environment for us to feel loved as it envelopes us with its flowing and silky texture. This meditation is designed to be practiced in water, and it gives you the right to be and receive all of the beauty, bounty, and bliss that you can hold. This guided mediation will ask you to chant the following phrases designed to help you call in your truth: “I am bountiful. I am blissful. I am beautiful. I am.” This session is led by Anne Koller, a Kundalini yoga instructor and water healer at AQUA in New York City, and was created in collaboration with Satkirin Kaur Khalsa, whose music, “Living Your Truth – Nobility” (from Blessings of a Woman) accompanies the meditation.

Here's Why You May Never Be a Morning Person

Source: http://greatist.com/live/why-you-may-never-be-a-morning-person?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=feed_http–greatistcom-

If you can sleep until noon without a problem, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re lazy. As this video from Vox explains, everyone has a different chronotype (a fancy word for internal clock). Night owls have late chronotypes, which means their sleep-wake cycles naturally occur hours later than someone with a normal chronotype. Your internal clock is determined by your DNA, making it super hard to change. So if you’ve tried to become a morning person and failed, blame genetics.
