Good Afternoon and Happy Easter and Last Day of Spring Break!

I hope you have enjoyed your weekend.  It has been kind of a whirlwind week between Spring Break and the holiday.  I don’t know about you but I have been indulging in a few too many goodies this past week and am looking forward to getting back on my game!

To help you get back on your game try adding these Superfoods into your diet.

SPRING SUPERFOODS

Watercress, Spinach, and Kale are staples to your detox, and can be used in a variety of ways such as adding to smoothies or salads. Aside from the fact that these leafy greens are packed with high-quality nutrients and vitamins, they also aid in lowering cholesterol, restoring energy levels, and help to decrease your chances of developing cancer.

Asparagus is one of the most beneficial superfoods, offering kidney and bladder cleansing support. Asparagus can be oven roasted with a little bit of seasoning, which brings us to our next two superfoods, Garlic and Cayenne Pepper!

Garlic and Cayenne Pepper act as the perfect bridge from tasteless foods to delectable meals! By seasoning your food with Garlic and/or Cayenne Pepper, not only are you aiding in detoxifying your body, but you’re ensuring that your meals taste delicious! The sulfur found in Garlic works specifically to rid your body of toxins, while Cayenne Pepper helps to support weight loss and promote heart health! Can’t seem to stomach eating …

How to Drink Like a Professional (VIDEO)

Source: http://romanfitnesssystems.com/articles/alcohol-fat-loss/

godmodeThis is something I get asked about A LOT: how can you drink like a boss without it affecting fitness or productivity?

How can you mainline delicious bourbon, and not get too drunk to function, or experience hangovers that keep you out of the gym?

SIMPLE.

You need to have a system, yo. And that’s what I’ve got.

The last time I was in NYC, I got drunk, predictably, and filmed a video about this system and how YOU can use it to keep crushing life.

A few weeks later there was more drinking and some graphics were added.

Anyway.

What I’m saying is, if you want to learn how to drink like a goddamn professional, watch this video.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Happy Saturday, friends. I would like to report that I am not currently hungover. In fact, I never get hangovers. And I drink reasonably often, and a pretty fair amount. This is something I get asked about A LOT – how can you drink like a boss without it affecting fitness or productivity? How can you mainline delicious bo…

Fry And Fry Again: The Science Secrets To The Double Fry

We used science to unlock the secrets of fried Oreos and other twice-fried foods.

Morgan McCloy/NPR

I’ve been trying to get the perfect crust on my fried chicken for a while now. To be specific, I’ve been working on a dish called Chongqing Sichuan spicy chicken or chicken with chilies. This can be one of the most transformative experiences to ever come out of a wok, and I’ve been chasing a crisp, almost glassy crunch on my chicken for a long time.

But science can unlock many secrets, and cooking is science. To understand how to get the effects I want, there are a couple of universal rules of frying to nail down, according to Scott Andrew Paulson. He’s a physicist at James Madison University, and he’s been through a similar journey trying to create the perfect French fry.

That glorious sizzle is from water boiling away from the potatoes, beginning the fry’s construction of a great crust.

Why Strong Relationships Stem from Self-Love (and How to Develop It)

Happy Couple

“Creating an outstanding love doesn’t come from two half-fulfilled people coming together to make one whole, complete life. Outstanding love comes from two whole people coming together to share and enhance their already full and beautiful lives.” ~Pia Scade

My partner and I were having a conversation about our relationship recently.

We both told each other just how much we loved the relationship. We weren’t talking about how much we love each other, but about how much we enjoy this shared space between us, this thing we call our relationship.

We enjoy giving to it and nurturing it. We enjoy receiving from it. It challenges us on a regular basis, but ultimately those challenges make us better people.

We feel that the relationship enhances us as individuals and makes us happy. We don’t need it, we don’t depend on it, but we sure do want to keep it.

It wasn’t always like this for me. With past girlfriends things always started out well, but over time my insecurities would take over.

I would lose my sense of self and become absorbed into the relationship. I would come to depend on the partnership for satisfaction, happiness, validation, and self-worth. My other half was often equally struggling.

The result was that …

Protected: Feeling your Path

file000166859946People have asked me – if there was just one thing I could do to improve my day, what should I do? I say; pay attention to how you feel and honor that feeling.

Why is this? Because every moment of every day, the ‘now’ moment, is where you define your life. If you want to change how your day unfolds, you have to unwrap each day differently. In order for you to be able to change some behavior, you have to be able to recognize the behavior when it occurs. This recognition only happens through a conscious awareness of your feelings and choosing to reshape your actions.

Here is a yoga practice.

Upon waking, recognize your opportunity to shape the current day. State your commitment to being aware of, and your willingness to accept the ramifications of, your actions. Maybe even look yourself in the mirror and state “I know that I am free to make choices. I am open to feeling the ramifications of my actions. I am aware that I can redo my actions.” After making this statement, close your eyes, take a deep breath and relax.

Now, follow-through.

As you go about your day, your choices will lead you. Stay soft to the emotional responses of each choice and sense if the outcome makes you feel good or bad. If you’re ok with the feelings, just let it go and con…
