Dudes may have to take more caution to avoid getting sick with good old influenza. A new study from Johns Hopkins University found that estrogen helps protect women from the flu. The hormone slows the replication process of the virus and comes with some antiviral effects too. So even if women do come down with the flu, it’s usually less severe.
These findings suggest that estrogen could be part of flu treatment in the future. And maybe there’s some truth to the idea of the “man cold” after all.
