Five Steps to Choosing a Great Vitamin

Choosing a Great VitaminHave you ever waltzed into your friendly neighborhood Nutrition Store or frantically surfed the worldwide web searching for that elusive miracle pill, deluding yourself into believing that maybe, just maybe, it would somehow magically transform your so-called body into the next Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie? Or perhaps you want pecks like Arnold. Or the energy to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Or heck, maybe you’d simply settle for enough energy to pry your sleepy little self out of that comfy bed as your annoying alarm clock goes berserk Monday morning, like a runaway freight train on steroids. If so, then you’ve probably encountered a severe mega-dose of chronic overwhelm. Yikes! We are continually bombarded with a never-ending avalanche of pills and potions. Plus, you’d almost need the bank account of Bill Gates or Donald Trump to afford the buffed-up body you’d “really” like to have. Meanwhile, Madison Avenue persistently insists that you won’t be able to live with yourself until you finally succumb to today’s latest nutritional fad.

So what’s the solution?

If you’ve read this far, you are probably convinced that supplementing your diet with vitamins is critically important. You probably already know how depleted our topsoil is. Chances are, you’re also cognoscente of the highly processed state of the foodless foods we consume on a regular basis. Taber’s Medical Dictionary concludes that vitamins are indispensable for the maintenance of good health. Likewise, The Journal of American Medical Association concluded that everyone should take a multi-vitamin everyday.

So it’s not a question of whether or not we should take vitamins. Rather, the question we ought to be asking is, “With so many brands of vitamins on the market, which one is the smartest choice?”

Great question.

However, before we can even begin to answer that question, we have to answer a series of other sub-questions, such as:

1. Are cheap, synthetic vitamins just as good as all-natural vitamins?

2. Which vitamins and minerals do my body need?

3. What dosage should I take?

Choosing a Great Vitamin

Let’s narrow the playing field by addressing those questions one at a time.

Are cheap, synthetic vitamins just as good as all-natural vitamins?

First, let’s compare synthetic vitamins with all-natural vitamins. I just completed an article entitled “Vitamin Wars: Natural VS Synthetic.” Putting everything into a nutshell, synthetic vitamins simply cannot measure up to nature’s finest. Over 3,800 different compounds have been identified in foods as having nutritional significance. However, in a laboratory, twenty nutrients are about all that modern science can reproduce and put into a vitamin product.

But even more of a concern than the ineffectiveness of these synthetic vitamins is the harm that they can cause. One of many examples is a recent study on Vitamin C as synthetic ascorbic acid. It was found to thicken the walls of the arteries.

On the other hand, all-natural vitamins made from whole-food sources have many positive benefits that synthetic vitamins just can’t duplicate in a lab. Whole-food vitamins derive their nutrients directly from fruits and vegetables. Unlike synthetic vitamins, whole-food vitamins do not rob precious nutrients from the body. Rather, they supply the individual cells with the nutrients they need to flourish. For greatest gains in terms of health, take only whole food vitamins. When evaluating a vitamin supplement, simply read the label. Rather than multi-syllable, unpronounceable chemical names, you should find the names of foods listed as the vitamin sources. What a concept! This is your way of knowing that you are getting the best possible absorption and retention of your vitamins.

Which vitamins and minerals do my body need?

The short answer is, there are many benefits to all vitamins and minerals.

Vitamin A is important for our vision, while preventing cancer and promoting wellness of bones, eyes, hair, mucous linings, membranes, nails, skin and teeth.

Vitamin B2 promotes healthy skin, nails, and hair.

Vitamin C extends life by enabling protein cells to hold together.

And we haven’t even begun to scratch the surface.

Minerals are critical

Minerals are also critical to maintaining good health. Approximately 75% of the people living in the Western World are not ingesting the right amount of Magnesium, approximately 68% are not ingesting enough Calcium, approximately 58% are not ingesting enough Iron, and approximately 40% are not ingesting enough Zinc.

Make sure your minerals are chelated – here’s why:

Most minerals found in synthetic supplements are cheap and not what we would recommend for the body. They are not chelated minerals and therefore it is extremely difficult for the body to absorb and utilize these minerals after ingesting them. Many times they cause problems with the digestive tract and other systems of the body.

What you might not know is that a chelated mineral acts differently within the body. A chelated mineral is a mineral that is bonded with amino acids or malates naturally found within the food in a stable form. Since 95% of amino acids are absorbed through the intestinal tract, it makes it very easy for high quality chelated minerals to be absorbed and utilized by the body.

Don’t forget to take your Probiotics!

You may be asking, “Probi – what – ics”?

The term “probiotics” simply means “pro life.” Their role in maintaining good health is tremendous. In the scientific community, they are known as “friendly bacteria.” Probiotics aid the digestive system and strengthen the immune system. Bottom line, probiotics have such a wide range of positive roles that nearly everybody could improve their health by supplementing their diet with probiotics.
The importance of Enzymes

Like probiotics, enzymes also aid digestion. Proper digestion of food should be your body’s top priority. Why? Because all other bodily functions, including the immune system, energy production and even brain functions, are all put on pause until the body digests its food. When digestion is functioning properly, food is broken down and nutrients are made available by the body itself for repair, metabolism, and healing without undue stress. Many negative factors wreck havoc on our digestive systems: the way our foods are grown and processed, toxins in the environment – even undue stress and anger. As a result, up to 70 million Americans experience a whole range of digestive disorders such as bloating, gas, and stomach cramps.

What dosage should I take?

Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA)

RDA’s are based on scientific research and are set at levels to provide for 98% of all healthy persons living in the US. There is a cushion built in so that if you get 67% of the RDA for a nutrient, you should be getting a minimum amount as an average person. Remember that the RDA’s are based on preventing deficiency symptoms specific to each vitamin and mineral. So when choosing a multi-vitamin, check to see if a daily serving contains 100% of the RDA, providing, of course, that a daily value has been established.

So in summary, there are five Steps to Choosing a Great Vitamin:

1. Choose a multi-vitamin made from the highest grade of Whole-Food sources. Do NOT choose a multi-vitamin that contains a concoction of synthetic ingredients that you can’t even pronounce.

2. Choose minerals that are chelated.

3. Choose a multi-vitamin containing Probiotics.

4. Choose a multi-vitamin containing Enzymes derived from vegetables.

5. Choose a multi-vitamin containing 100% of the Recommended Daily Allowances whenever established.

Keeping the above criteria in mind dramatically narrows the playing field.

It’s also a good idea to select a product that gives you a money-back guarantee. Quality multi-vitamins are not as cheap as synthetics, but they are affordable.

I hope this information has educated you and will help you make smart choices. Remember – you only get one body in this life. Treat it well and stay healthy.

Daily Intake Vitamin – Are Daily Vitamins Really Absorbed?

Are Daily Vitamins Really AbsorbedA good daily intake vitamin crucial issue is related to how absorbable the vitamin supplement really is. The majority of daily vitamin and mineral supplements dissolve in the stomach, and that’s a problem. So what’s the problem?

When you swallow a tablet, capsule, or take a supplement liquid, what happens is the active ingredients are released in the stomach. Stomach acids attack the ingredients and break them into smaller particles. Depending upon the ingredient, most of it is destroyed by the acids. And poor quality tablets made with cheap binders can pass through both the stomach and the intestine and out of the body with little or no absorption.

Are Daily Vitamins Really Absorbed

The ‘delivery system’ that provides the best daily intake vitamin absorption uses a process called “enteric coating”. This delivery system is state of the art and is usually only found with advanced pharmaceutical products. This coating which is made up of pH sensitive polymers attaches to the tablets and remains intact in the acidic environment of the stomach. Once it passes through the stomach, the coating disintegrates in the small intestine where the highest percentage of ingredients can then be absorbed.

In an ideal world, recommended daily intake vitamin and nutrient requirements would be supplied from your diet. However, many people make poor food choices every day. Junk food, processed food, sodas and sweets are the basis for the diet of millions. Even with a well-balanced diet, studies have found the nutrient values of foods have been declining for decades because of soil depletion.

Choosing one of the high-quality, broad-spectrum daily intake vitamin supplements helps fill the ‘nutritional gaps’ that everyone has. Daily vitamin essential nutrients that the body requires are extensive and are much more than just vitamins. When considering which daily intake vitamin to take, remember that the least costly ingredients in a daily vitamin are the vitamins and minerals. Your body also needs a wide array of anti-aging natural substances proven to provide specific health benefits.

High quality daily intake vitamins should include nutrients such as amino acids, antioxidants, bioflavanoids, neuronutrients, certain herbal extracts, enzymes and specialized substances such as L-Carnosine, alpha lipoic acid, acetyl L-Carnitine and so on. Nutrients such as these have been proven by clinical studies to provide important anti-aging benefits. And these nutrients have to be in the correct proportions to each other based on the latest research.

Finding highly absorbable daily intake vitamins can be difficult but there is a quality manufacturer that incorporates enteric coating in their vitamin supplements. Read more and understand the significance of the term ‘bio-availability’ as it applies when vitamins, minerals and nutrients are being taken every day. After all, it’s your health and wellness that’s at stake.

What Is Flax Seed and How Can It Improve Your Health?

More and more, health-conscious individuals are turning to flax seed and it’s inherent flax seed oil as a natural, affordable solution. Are you frustrated in your search for a natural food What Is Flax Seedsupplement? One that can help you feel healthier and lose weight? without side effects?

Flax Seeds Benefits the Entire Body!
Flaxseed is claimed to benefit every molecule in the body! It improves the quality of hair, nails, and skin, as well as helping to regulate body weight, lower cholesterol and blood pressure and prevent arthritis and cancers.

What is flax seed?

The flax plant, an ancient crop, yields the fibre from which linen is woven, as well as seeds (linseed or flaxseed) and oil. The oil, also called linseed oil, has many industrial uses, it is an important ingredient in paints, varnishes and linoleum for example.

Flax is a grain crop which has several substances that can be healthy. It has fiber, omega-3 fatty acids and lignans. You can add flax to your diet by either using the flaxseeds or flaxseed oil. Both will add the essential omega-3 fatty acid, alpha linolenic acid (ALA) to our bodies. We need this fatty acid and are unable to make it on our own. This fatty acid may help reduce the risk for cardiovascular disease and sudden cardiac death. It is believed that flax’s fatty acids, as well as fiber, help in lowering blood cholesterol.

Flaxseed has been a part of human and animal diets for thousands of years in Asia, Europe, and Africa, and more recently in North America and Australia, says Kaye Effertz, executive director of AmeriFlax, a trade promotion group representing U.S. flaxseed producers. As flax gained popularity for its industrial uses, however, its popularity as a food product waned, but it never lost its nutritional value.

What does Flax Seeds look like?
Flax seeds are slightly larger than sesame seeds and have a hard shell that is smooth and shiny. Their color ranges from deep amber to reddish brown depending upon whether the flax is of the golden or brown variety. While whole flaxseeds feature a soft crunch, the nutrients in ground seeds are more easily absorbed.

Today flax is experiencing a renaissance among nutritionists, the health conscious public, food processors, and chefs alike!

What People Are Saying About MindWorks

what people are saying about MindWorks

What people are saying about MindWorks. MindWorks™ The latest advancement in brain science from Shaklee.

Neural connections in our brain start declining as early as age 20, by age 45 this decline occurs even more rapidly. Studies show the key ingredients in MindWorks help improve mental sharpness and focus and support long-term cognitive health.

What People Are Saying About MindWorks

MindWorks Stories  (Shaklee)

Bob F. (IA)

What people are saying about MindWorks: Bob F was one of the first users of Mindworks in July 2014. He said, “I felt like my mind had been lubricated, two days into MindWorks the difference was palpable. Can’t wait to see what happens down the road!”

And later…    “Here’s another apparent MindWorks impact. Last night, while eating Amish noodles, I had the powerful memory of that taste from homemade noodles made by parents at the little rural school in Savoy Illinois I attended in third grade. My father was on sabbatical, and we stayed at a U of I farm outside of Champaign. I started to describe the taste, and the vivid picture-memories of the farm came flooding in. I started to describe to everyone the details of the duck eggs we’d find by the pond, what you found when dissecting an owl pellet, and many other vivid details. They are actually there in awareness now. It seems to be an enhanced capacity to bring back visuals from long ago. Let’s see if it persists, and whether it generalizes to other memories and capacity to hold things vividly in mind. I also seem more capable of discerning what needs to be done, and overcoming mental inertia to do them. Again, let’s see if that persists. So far so good!

Bob J. (NH)

What people are saying about MindWorks:  “My husband, Bob, has had Parkinson’s Disease for many years.  Lately it has been much worse. In comes MindWorks.  Amazing!! He had been having trouble focusing on computer work. He couldn’t even do bills this past month. He had been falling so much trying to walk.  Awful!

….Bob has been on Mindworks for a week now. He has been working on the computer again, and right now is on the tractor lifting logs off the driveway from a mini tornado.

….Bob was even up before dawn today, mowing our secret garden area! Shaklee has been a great help all along, but Mindworks is a miracle!  His walking is something to see. He was walking on rubbery legs (his explanation) and as of this AM he is walking with long strides.”

Susan H. (NC)

What people are saying about MindWorks:  You know I don’t write a great deal but I just had to share this one with you as it is personal. And you know that I tend to shy away from testimonials. Not that I don’t find them meaningful – I do. It’s just that they are not scientific. Being in academia for over 30 years, it is a common practice that we are forced (sometimes against our will) to think that only reports complete with empirical data published in peer reviewed journals have any validity.  Also – I knew someone quite well who was utterly incapable of separating the two, and insisted if something was written in Readers Digest – well… it just had to be true.

However, when something works well, I am more than happy to pass it along to my friends; like recipes, high heel shoes that don’t hurt my feet and any anti-ageing potions of reasonable measure. Ok, I found one – in the last category – of sorts. It’s called MindWorks.

First allow me to confess that I am the Queen of ADD and have been all my life. Where are my books? Shoes? Glasses? Sit still. Don’t doodle! Squirrel!!! You get the picture.  After a while one learns to live with it and exchanges the label “ADD” with “multitasking” to save face.  The fact that my students call me “Professor” still is a mystery to some – including me at times.

Getting back to the story: When Shaklee announced the new MindWorks I was thinking;  ”Ok perhaps it will help my failing memory, make me young again, and allow me to wear my 3 inch heels”. Putting humor aside for a moment, I can tell you memory loss was really starting to bother me. I was pushing 60 and expecting some loss of cognition and recall, but I also knew I was dealing with issues far beyond that – and it frightened me.  You see, from age 46 to 56 I had lived in an extremely stressful state. I had the usual stress that came from getting a divorce, losing home, income, dealing with a hormonal teen intent on pushing me to the limits of insanity, caring for aging sick parents, dying friends, etc. You get the picture – the typical sandwich generational stuff.  All came a screeching halt however when my only child, my son, was almost killed in a car accident four years ago. He was on life support for a week, 27 broken bones and having the nurse tell us they didn’t know what his ‘new normal’ would look like.  My world stopped and I could not breathe.

After three weeks of hospital vigilance we saw he would live and I found myself back in the classroom standing in front of my students who were waiting for the lecture de jour. Only one problem – I didn’t know where I was or what I was supposed to be doing. Truly, I found myself frozen as a deer caught in the headlights first day back.  I knew I was in class, but that was about it. At least I had enough awareness to check the date and time on the computer to see where I was and what I was supposed to teach that day.  Lucky for me, my lectures were posted on-line so I pulled it up and hoped I was on point. It was scary. My therapist told me afterwards it was classic Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and that it would take time for my memory to come back.  Great.

As the years went on, I saw my memory slowly resurfacing – to a point.  But still I would say I was at half the recall of what I was before the accident. Then the samples of MindWorks came along from Shaklee. However by this time I had resigned myself to the fact that I’d have to use detailed notes to teach from this point on and I would never remember your name – even if you were a family member.

Long story short: The first day of taking MindWorks I felt a gentle mental awakening with more clarity but I wasn’t really paying too much attention to results.  Then one day, the same week, in class I found myself on the other side of the room – totally engaged in the subject realizing I had just taught 30 minutes without looking at my notes! Next day – same thing! Whoot whoot!!!  Later the next week I found myself working well into the afternoon and actually making sense which had become a rarity past 4PM. Teaching in the morning was not just a preference – it was a necessity! But here I was again: Energy – clarity – focus!  The results were enough to make me a believer!!

But what I noticed next was not promoted in the product literature and came as treasured surprise.   You see, along with all the stress of those hard years came a certain level of depression – clinical depression. My doctors all told me that one cannot sustain the levels of stress that I had for all those years without having the pool of ‘feel good’ brain chemicals bottom out.  To remedy it I was given the usual round of Rx’s to help but they didn’t help:  Prozac turned me into a zombie and Welbutrin made me a raging lunatic – according to my son.  Nope – I settled on St. Johns Wart much to the chagrin of my MD as she said it would never get my brain chemistry back to the high levels needed to feel joyful again. It helped – a little – but I had resigned myself to the fact that I may never have those light peace filled feelings again.    Why do I bring this up?  Because this past week I have noticed a joy fill bliss creeping back into my mornings. One morning after a calm read the joy fairy just kind of settled in and a tear of gratitude rolled down my face. Yes, there was a way out of the brain dead pit – and it seems to be called Mindworks. At least it was for me.

I do feel we have a natural ADD=ADHD product here. Of course we can’t say that, being laymen, but it certainly appears to have properties to help. My son (23) said it made him feel anxiety at first, but then he took 2 CalMags and a Stress Relief with it, and had the same focus, minus the anxiety. How I wish I would have had this combination 12 years ago when he was started on Adderall. So many studies today link drug addiction to early use of ADHD medication as children.

So there you go my friends: my testimonial. I am sleeping better too BTW way. And my retention of facts and focus keeps getting better.  They tell me that MindWorks also helps reduce brain shrinkage by 30% over 2 years according to the clinical study. That’s impressive but right now I am just tickled pink to get my brain back!!

Mary K (FL)

I have noticed an elevation in mood, and I never felt depressed before.  I just was unaware of what it meant to feel “lighter.” You know when sometimes people tell you “lighten up,” and you wonder why they said that to you.

What people are saying about MindWorks:  Well, I truly feel “lighter,” and I had not realized what it meant to “lighten up” until I started using MindWorks!

Mary B (NY)

Wow! I too was in an accident, which totaled my new Prius 2 yrs. ago.  This testimony helped me understand what has happened to my mind!  My First Day with MindWorks at Long Beach, after wondering why everything had been so confusing, felt like my brain got whitewashed…. all clarity returned.  I had no idea it could be the after effects of the accident. I think it is improving my eyesight as well, had to use a magnifying glass for item codes all the time and noticed huge improvement.

Micki  R. (CO)

I have gone to Shaklee Conferences for 20 years, and every year I tend to get overwhelmed by all of the information, activity, stimulation, people contact, etc…(each year getting somewhat more difficult as I age) In comes MindWorks!! I began taking it 5 days before the conference in Long Beach, and I will have to say that this is the first year that my brain hasn’t “hurt.” My head wasn’t fuzzy like in the past! This was the first year that I also attended Future Masters (an extra couple of days of meetings), so I thought I was going to be “wiped out” but I wasn’t. In fact the opposite was true; I felt very focused, energized, and ready to go at the end of each day. Thank you Shaklee for once again adding an incredible, break-through product just when I needed it most!! It is going to be life-changing for many!!!

Sonia P. (KY)

What people are saying about MindWorks:

I started taking MindWorks a couple of weeks ago.

While I already take several other supplements, such as OmegaGuard, Vivix and Vitalizer, I noticed a difference right away in my ability to stay focused, learn new things at my job and be able to have all day long productivity.

I do not know if this new product is involved or not, but the dreams I have are very detailed and I remember them the next day.  Not usually the case with dreams.

My job can be stressful at times, and I certainly take Stress Relief Complex as needed, but also taking MindWorks really helps me stay calm and stay focused on the task at hand. Terrific combination!

Trudy B. (TN)

I have noticed better memory, focus, alertness, energy, and mood.  Love it!

Lyn S. (OH)

Normally, I am not a skeptic.  But I was when it came to Mind Works.  Even after listening to the explanations, I wasn’t convinced.  Then I took the product. WOW! I have always had an unusual amount of energy but never good focusing abilities. The very first day here is what happened. Took the Mind Works with my morning shake and we went to church at 8:30. After coming home and changing clothes, I moved all summer clothes to another closet down the hall.  Then brought fall clothes back to our closet. Next tackled cleaning out storage closet of clothes to donate. Meanwhile, I did three loads of laundry. I then began the process of watering indoor plants.  That takes a couple of hours by the time I trim, fertilize, etc. After that, I watered the 6 big Boston ferns in the front porch and cleaned off the porch. By now it is around 2:00 and I typed a three page letter to a cousin in a rehab center. Finally cooked a huge Sunday dinner for us.The following day was similar in terms of energy, focus, and drive.  I am accomplishing tons more than I used to and I am 69 years old. Monday, I cleaned two floors of our three floors.  And did some major deep cleaning in preparation for upcoming entertaining. On top of that, I ran the office and put together orders to go into the mail today. I cannot say enough about Mind Works. Except to say….Mind Works really works!

Tammy W (NC): What people are saying about MindWorks:

STROKE SYMPTOMS IMPROVED WITH MINDWORKS: Jeff, a friend and customer, just shared this with me: “I started taking MindWorks last week and I can tell you for certain my energy level has increased greatly! For those of you that do not know me , I suffered a stroke this past January and my recovery has gone well , but since taking MindWorks not only has my energy level increased but believe it or not I have greatly increased the use of my right arm and hand ! I have to admit I was a little skeptical before starting MindWorks but it is definitely something I would highly recommend to each and everyone!”

Of course, your results may be different – in fact you might have an even better story about the way MindWorks has had a impact on you and others you know. If so, put the story in the comments below. We are interested in what you have to say.

If you want to check out MindWorks for yourself, click here to find it on our Shaklee site.

Macular Degeneration, Dr. Steve Chaney & AREDS 2 Study

AREDS = Age Related Eye Disease Study

Based on AREDS 2 Study, What does Dr. Chaney recommend for Macular Degeneration prevention?

Quoted from Dr. Chaney by Debbie Garrison February 2, 2011

“Dr. Chaney is a Professor Bio-Chemistry and Nutrition at UNC Medical School —he is also a cancer researcher.

“Now you see it, now you don’t.

Most supplement companies are reluctant to abandon a well-established brand – even when they have something better to sell.

On a recent visit to our optometrist he alerted us to a perfect example of that in the area of eye health.

But, first a bit of background.

Many of you have probably heard of AREDS (Age Related Eye Disease Study) conducted by the National Eye Institute. That study showed that high doses of the antioxidants vitamin C, beta-carotene, vitamin E and the mineral zinc significantly decreased the risk of macular degeneration in high risk patients.

Very shortly after the study was completed several companies started marketing vitamin supplements based on the amounts of those nutrients used in the AREDS study.

However, by the time that study was published there were already several other published studies showing that lutein and zeaxanthin were a better choice than beta-carotene and that omega-3 fatty acids also significantly reduced the risk of macular degeneration. In addition, many experts felt that the amount of zinc used in the original AREDS formulation was too high.

So the National Eye Institute immediately started an AREDS 2 study with the revised formulation and most of the manufacturers of AREDS supplements started marketing AREDS 2 supplements.

Our optometrist told us people interested in reducing the risk of macular degeneration really should be using the AREDS 2 supplements rather than the AREDS formulations offered by the same companies.

  • Since he knew that we used Shaklee products he also asked us whether it was possible to get those nutrients in the right amount from Shaklee supplements.

Dr. Chaney continues….

So we did some label reading.

1 Vitalizer Strip plus, 1 Vita E Complex, 2 CarotoMax, 2 OmegaGuard and 1 Zinc Complex come very close to the AREDS 2 formulation.

  • Linda Dietz’s suggestion: “I would add Vivix to this list and Energizing Soy Protein because I have worked with so many folks who have either reversed or stopped the progression of this growing problem.”

So the bottom line is:

If you are interested in reducing the risk of macular degeneration look for an AREDS 2 formulation —- and Shaklee quality and consistency fits the bill.”

To Your Health ! Dr. Stephen G Chaney

Before VIVIX, these supplements stopped or reversed macular degeneration for numerous Shaklee family members:

  • 6 Carotomax a day
  • 6 zinc a day
  • 1 Energizing Protein Shake a day
  • 4 Vita Lea a day
  • 4 B-complex a day
  • 6 500mg time released C a day

Now that we have VIVIX, these are the supplements that are recommended by Dr. Chaney and the AREDS 2 study as a possible prevention for Macular Degeneration:

  • 1 Vitalizer Strip a day
  • 1 Vita E a day
  • 2 Carotomax a day
  • 2 OmegaGuard a day
  • 1 zinc a day
  • One protein shake or one Meal Bar or two snack bars a day
  • 1 tsp of VIVIX a day

Most of my Macular Degeneration customers start just taking VIVIX. Then they have an eye exam. If their eye exam shows that their vision has stayed the same or gotten better, most of my VIVIX customers have added other supplements to their VIVIX and achieved even greater vision gains.

Tips From The Professor: Flu Shots & Heart Attack Risk

You’ve seen the recent headlines: “Study Finds Flu Shot Cuts Heart Attack Risk in Half”. These headlines refer to a currently unpublished study presented late last year at the 2012 Canadian Cardiovascular Congress.

The study analyzed the results of published clinical trials involving a total of 3,227 patients, average age of 60, half of whom had already been diagnosed with heart disease. They were randomly assigned to receive either a flu shot or placebo shot and their health was tracked for 12 months. And the study found that the flu shot was associated with a 50% reduction in heart attacks and stoke and a 40% reduction in cardiovascular death.

That’s enough to make you want to want to rush out and get your flu shot right away, which is what many of the media reports suggested you should do.

However, while that sounds very impressive, the number of people in those groups experiencing a heart attack or stroke during the 12 month period was small, which limits the strength of the conclusion.

In addition, half of the people in that study already had heart disease. Two previous studies in populations without previous evidence of heart disease have had mixed results. One study (CMAJ, 182: 1617-1623, 2010) found that the flu shot was associated with a 20% reduction in heart attack risk, while another study (Hum Vaccin, 2: 161-166, 2006) found no correlation between flu shots and heart attack risk.

So, all the hype about this recent study is a bit misleading. The flu shot has always made sense for the very old and very sick. If you have a serious heart condition, or if you are old and feeble, a bout of the flu can push you over the edge. So while it is true that the flu shot significantly decreases the risk of dying from a heart attack, many of those people would have kicked the bucket in a year or two anyway. Of course, no one wants to die prematurely – even a little bit prematurely, so it is absolutely correct to say that flu shots reduce heart attack deaths and save lives in that population group.

Where it is not so clear the flu shot is beneficial, is for the young and healthy. The flu shot offers few benefits and a very slight risk for that population group.

For the young and healthy group flu shots primarily make sense from a public health standpoint. The very old and the very sick often have weak immune systems, so the flu shot is not particularly effective for them. However, if public health officials can convince every else to get their flu shots, the probability of the old and sick getting exposed to the flu virus is decreased and you will decrease death from flu in that population.

So what is the bottom line for you?

If you are old, have a weakened immune system, or have major diseases such as heart disease, diabetes or hypertension, the flu shot makes a great deal of sense.

If you are young and healthy, you have a choice. We do many things in this life for altruistic reasons – things that help other people without providing any direct benefits to us. If you are young and healthy the flu shot is like that. It’s something you might do because it could save the life of someone who you might otherwise expose to the flu virus.

I just wish that were the message that we heard from public health officials. I believe in truth in advertising.

To Your Health!

Rheumatoid Arthritis testimonials

Arthritis – Alice C. “Totally Pain Free”

My family has a history of inflammatory illnesses. Arthritis is the number one and heart disease. About 1975 after a very stressful couple of years (long distance move, flood, life and stress does often trigger inflammatory illness), my symptoms began. During this period my cousin-best friend also was in treatment for her Arthritis.

I determined I would seek natural methods. However, she had the best medical team available in NY and Conn. because her husband’s company paid for everything. When I suggested food supplements she said “why should I pay for vitamins when my medical care and prescriptions are completely paid for?” Following 2 kidney transplants and awaiting the third, she died in 1985 due to the “excellent” medications prescribed and paid for by outstanding specialists.

I was introduced to Shaklee in 1976 and received great benefit due to the Alfalfa that helps reduce inflammation. Then, the distributor moved from the area and ordering by the case from the company was not an option for me. I went to my local Health Food Store and bought the best they had available. The owner worked with me even ordering special products but my symptoms returned. Then I heard Amway had a natural vitamin and switched to that brand. By 1986 I could not dress myself and I could not get any relief.

My doctor recommended a Rheumatologist in Houston but I didn’t follow through. Then, out of the blue, a Shaklee Distributor came into my business and introduced herself. She had just moved to Conroe from out of state. Her husband, whom I knew, suggested that she come meet me. (What if she had not made the effort to ask if I was interested?) The rest is history.

I got back on a Shaklee program in July 1987 and after a period of detox, which is like the flu, I began to improve. In Sept. I attended a seminar in Dallas with two scientists, one who was an inflammatory specialist. I had a consultation and he suggested I take 30 Alfalfa and 9 Essential Omega Acids each day. Within a few months I was totally pain free and after about 5 years all the large calcium deposits on my fingers, wrists and evidently my back were gone.

At age 70 and a half I have no pain, no inflamed joints and my physician tells me I am the only patient she has who gets better with age, according to my blood chemistry.

My latest blood chemistry dated 8-13-03 has a note from my physician, “As always, Great !!!” My cholesterol is down after taking the new Cholesterol Reduction Complex for 6 weeks by about 20 points. My HDL is up to 70 with a 3.0 ratio.

I would wish for everyone to enjoy the energy and good health that I do. I tried everything else, nothing worked, but Shaklee gave my body the nutrition it needed and continues to require for good health. Medications will never nourish the body, the cells only recognize live foods.

Arthritis – Betty G. “My Attitude Has Changed Completely”

It is with pleasure that I take the opportunity to share my thoughts about Shaklee. I was introduced to Shaklee in 1981 as a wholesale consumer of “concentrated” cleaning products. Since the person knew that I was an RN, he did not share “nutrition” with me, but did supply me with cassettes on various subjects. He was not aware of the various health challenges that I had, especially the pain of Osteoarthritis that resulted following a work-related accident and 5 back surgeries. In order for me to work, I took about 15 Bufferin a day. I chose them because they were as effective as the anti-inflammatory drugs the Dr.’s had put me on, and created fewer side effects.

After listening to testimonies on the tapes and the rationale behind supplementation, I began using the Shaklee basics of that time, which were Vita-Lea, Vita C, Alfalfa, Herb Lax and Protein. I also added Calcium Magnesium to my program. I could not BELIEVE it!! In less than 3 weeks, I was not taking any Bufferin and felt energized and a great sense of well-being.

This was too good to keep to myself since I was hearing lots of complaints from others. My attitude had changed completely… that a “vitamin” is a “vitamin”, and “if the Dr. doesn’t know how to help, vitamins certainly can’t”. I continued to educate myself with meetings, tapes, books, etc. and started sharing with others how they could experience better health. I have seen B/P lowered without medication, migraine headaches gradually go away, digestive disorders relieved, immune systems restored, energy and endurance revived, and the list goes on.

Arthritis – Betty S. “Ring Fits on Finger Again”

My Special Ring

My children gave me a ring that I have worn for many years on my left ring finger. For the past five years, my knuckle was swollen from arthritis and I hadn’t been able to wear the “special” ring. Since taking Vivix for 2 weeks, the knuckle has shrunk and I have been able to wear my “special” ring every day. I am Thrilled!

Arthritis – Bob F. “Instant Relief”

I have arthritis in my feet and tendonitis in both arms. Anyone who has arthritis understands the constant pain. I tried Shaklee’s Joint and Muscle cream as soon as it became available and felt instant relief. After applying the cream for several weeks there is almost no discomfort.

Whenever I do too much work with my arms like gardening, lifting or carrying stuff, even cooking for a long time (I usually spend most of Saturday preparing meals) my arms feel lifeless, and inflamed. It usually takes several days to recover.

I also recently started to take Shaklee’s Pain Relief Complex for arthritis as well as for the tendonitis. I washed windows this past week-end, and over-did it as usual. Without realizing it I did more than anticipated and didn’t think about my arms getting inflamed. My wife asked how I felt and I just looked at her and thought why would I feel any different; but my arms didn’t hurt and there was no inflammation. My arms felt great….pain was forgotten.

Many products claim they give relief, but with Shaklee you get results!

Arthritis – Dolores M. “Suffering For 50+ Years”

I had been suffering for 50+ years with arthritis, throughout my body, and this became aggravated by sciatica, bursitis and osteoporosis. Compounding the problem was the fact that I had been treated for years for hypothyroidism so that exercise was difficult and weight gain inevitable, thereby augmenting the joint problems. My doctor was afraid that improper exercising might do more damage and he considered that the form of exercise activity with the Y-care training would be advantageous.

Initially, the regimen of exercises were painful and exhausting but, with consistent effort and attendance, this improved to what I would consider a discomfort level, but not necessary any where near the pain threshold I had encountered earlier. That was up until Christmas 2004.

I had always had difficulty with sloped grades, inclines, stairs, etc., sometime requiring a handrail to assist me by allowing me to pull myself up the stairs, or else holding the arm of someone who would pull me up an incline. For some reason, this was becoming increasingly difficult and, by Christmas 2004, I was needing a great deal of assistance navigating the stairs to my grand-daughter’s home for our annual Christmas get-together.

By mid-January, 2005, I was barely able to get out of bed, creep to the bathroom, and get back up on to the bed. Living alone, except for two cats, I was pretty much panicked knowing that I had been told that eventually I could expect to be wheel-chair ridden. This seemed to be it. What’s worse, my weight was still 40 some pounds more than it should be and I had developed high blood pressure. I also had a high cholesterol problem too. It stunned me since I had been on prescription pain killers all my adult life and even though they never freed me from pain, they did moderate it somewhat. Now, even that was not happening.

By a stroke of luck, I had recently subscribed to membership with the Shaklee Nutrition Company and had been researching their products as targeted to joint pain. I had placed an order which arrived (at my neighbors door since I couldn’t get out of bed and to the door to receive it) and which I received eventually. I started on the Soy Protein (water-washed and prepared at 56 degree C so that it did not destroy the phyto-chemicals and phyto-estrogens, nor become a source of carcinogens); the Joint Pain Relief; and the Joint Pain Complex. I noticed a little relief after three or four days enough to navigate around my condo and feed the animals. I then ordered some Joint and Muscle Pain Cream for future use. I never got to use it because, the day it arrived, I was back at the gym with it in my purse. I ran into someone else in pain, offered it to him to try, he did, and purchased it from me right away.

It didn’t matter. Since March 1st, I have never had to take as much as an aspirin for pain, have almost complete mobility of all my joints, have used other Shaklee products to bring down my weight and lost 35 pounds, have got normal cholesterol, and my systolic blood pressure has dropped about 30 points. I still have a thyroid condition but hope to eventually rid my need for thyroid medication altogether.

Why do I continue at the gym? Because I probably would not exercise at all without the moral support and collegiality of those I exercise with. I certainly would miss the social contact and the friends I have developed, not to mention the opportunity I have had to direct people to possible nutritional supplements that could help them too. I am now happy to be associated with Shaklee as a wellness representative being proactive on the medical scene instead of reactive as is frequently the case with most of us who wait for disaster to strike before doing anything to prevent it.

Arthritis – Frederick “Years Of Knee Pain Gone”

I am a 72 years young male. Nearly forty years ago I blew out my right knee playing football and was on crutches for almost 6 months. Did not have my knee operated on at that time. In the last few years arthritis has set in that knee. I am an active person and play golf at least three times per week. With any activity the right knee would become inflamed with much pain. I have been using the Joint Health Complex ever since SHAKLEE introduced the product with good results. Yet, the inflammation from the arthritis would flare up each day I would golf – which would affect my game…..Last summer SHAKLEE asked if I would try a bottle of the new SHAKLEE Pain Relief Complex and record my results for thirty days. I followed the instructions and within two days went golfing and the inflammation did not flare up and had no pain for the duration of the next 30 days. Once the 30 days was up I realized I would need to wait until October 2003 when SHAKLEE planned on placing the product on the market.

For me this was a life changing experience. The main ingredient in the SHAKLEE Pain Relief Complex was Boswelia an herb. I decided to go to GNC and buy Boswellia Herb. They had a bottle of Boswellia Complex 90 capsules and I thought this can hold me over until SHAKLEE puts the new product on the market. I used up the bottle of Boswellia from GNC and still had the pain in my right knee that would become inflamed each time I golfed. I have known for years that there was a difference with SHAKLEE products vs other brands. This proved to me once again there is “A SHAKLEE DIFFERENCE”

Arthritis – Juanita C. “The Pain In My Foot Was Gone”

About a year ago, a friend of mine noticed I was limping and asked me what was wrong. I told her I had a bone spur in the middle of my heel on my right foot and it was causing me a great deal of pain.

I had gone to the doctor and had three shots of Cortisone within three weeks, but nothing helped, so she preceded to tell me about Shaklee supplements and how they have helped many people, I told her I had been taking vitamins from health food stores for many years and I had always believed in nutrition but that they hadn’t helped with my bone spur.

She then told me about the “Shaklee Difference.” How their science, unprecedented testing and careful choice of raw materials and especially their unique processing allows all the nutrients found in nature, but also all the unknowns that aren’t discovered yet, to be part of their “food” supplement. She suggested, that just maybe I would get better results with the Shaklee food supplements.

She also said that a bone spur is caused by a deficiency of Calcium which causes the body to leach calcium from the bone.

She gave me the phone number of Dolores Mauk and I called her and she helped me with a program and within three to four weeks all the pain in my foot was gone and I could walk without limping. That was a year ago and I am still taking the same amounts because I don’t want to have any problem with a bone spur again. And I just feel so much better all over.

Here is what I am taking:

· 1 scoop Instant Protein & 1 scoop Meal Shake

· 1 Vita Lea

· 2 B-complex

· 2 SR-C

· 1 E

· 4 Alfalfa

· 2 Cal-Mag

· 2 Vita Cal (OsteoMatrix)

All of this 3 times daily, plus a 4th serving of alfalfa and calcium at bedtime.

Thank you,

Juanita Case

Arthritis – Julia “Hiking On The Weekend”

“The Joint & Muscle Pain Cream is one of my favorite SHAKLEE products. I have personally seen some quick results, but one of the best things that happened was for my mother-in-law. She has a lot of problems with arthritis in her feet. She also has an area on her ankle that gives her the most problems and it creates constant discomfort. Before she left my house the other night I rubbed some of the cream on her ankle. When she got home 15 minutes later, she called me up and said she was coming back to get some Joint & Muscle Cream because it worked so well and so fast. She was going hiking for the weekend and didn’t want to be in pain.”

Arthritis – Marie C. “I’m Pain Free”

A man from my church (Cleve) who is in his late 70′s has suffered from Arthritis for the last 10 years. He’s been taking lots of Ibuprofen daily for 10 years. When I heard this a year ago, I said “yikes, your insides must be a mess”! I gave him some information regarding Shaklee alternatives for his pain and stiffness. He read it and said “no thanks”!

In the last month, he’s no longer able to be a greeter at the door at church. He’s not able to stand up when we sing hymns. I started praying for him “Lord, give him the courage to try something new and different (Shaklee). I also gave his 42-year old daughter literature and said “Please, talk to your Dad. He doesn’t have to be in pain all the time. And his insides are going to eventually give him mega trouble.” She talked to him. A week ago he said “Give me a month’s worth”! So I put him on OsteoMatrix, Joint Health (3 per day/ 1 per meal) and Alfalfa (3 per meal, gradually going up to 5 per meal – some at bedtime if you are stiff in the am).

Yesterday at church, Cleve greeted me at the door. He said “I’m pain free”. I stopped all my Ibuprofen and other than a little stiffness, I feel great!” Hallelujah! What a blessing that was for me! What did I tell him? “Tell all your friends”! (ha)!

Shaklee – you just keep producing awesome products! But what a blessing OsteoMatrix is for our hurting seniors! Keep up the good work, or should I say research, testing, etc.

Arthritis – Martha M. “Can Move Again Without Pain”

I’m a person who has used Shaklee vitamins as well as their business plan to improve all elements of my health profile since 1985. I am now 72 and have been experiencing an elevated amount of joint, muscle and back pain. It has grown and grown over the past several years to very aggravating proportions affecting sleep and most movement. I was using up to 16 Pain Complex tablets a day to control this growing pain. It worked to quench the pain but the pain itself showed no signs of letting up.

Then, in early August, Shaklee Corporation introduced VIVIX, a fabulous new longevity tonic with resveratrol and super-grape extracts. I actually began taking Vivix while attending the convention in New Orleans. It is now September 15th and I’m pain free! I take NO Pain Complex. I use the Prescription for Health products recommended by Dr. Jamie McManus in addition to Vivix…one teaspoon a day. It’s great to be able to move again without pain anywhere.

Arthritis – Nancy & Tom “No More Pain Medication”

“Tom and I have been on the Vivix for 1 week and 2 days and after about 5 days Tom noticed that his ankles no longer hurt. He had broken them both as a youth playing sports. Tom is 65 and arthritis hit his ankles this year. He had to get up and take pain meds so he could sleep. After taking Vivix for just 5 days he no longer needs pain meds to sleep.”

Arthritis – Willa “Calcium Deposit Gone”

Willa Virkler not only has Osteoarthritis but also a calcium deposit on a vertebrae which is closing off 1/2 of the opening that the nerves go through. The nerves are pinched leading to her shoulder and down her arm, creating severe pain. She was taking Motrin several times daily to help control the pain whenever she turned her head. The doctor wanted to surgically remove the calcium deposit and said, “take no calcium”

Willa decided to try some Shaklee and she started on the whole program with a special emphasis on calcium to try to dissolve her calcium deposits. Just 4 days later she bubbled, “I don’t have any pain in my shoulder or arm — Oh, a little bit maybe if I turn too quickly, but not enough to bother. In fact, I haven’t taken any pain pills recently.”

Willa works in the pharmacy of the St. James Hospital in Pontiac. Noticing that she was moving better, the pharmacist asked what she was doing. “I’m not going to tell you,” she replied. “Because you are a pharmacist and you’re just like my doctor.” He persisted in knowing and after promising not to laugh, she told him she was taking Shaklee supplements.

When she went back to her doctor for a checkup he wanted to know what she had been doing, for he noticed a big improvement. She told him she was taking Shaklee supplements. He reminded her that he had told her not to take extra calcium. Willa told him Shaklee’s was dicalcium phosphate to which he replied, “Oh, that’s O.K. then!”

She still takes Shaklee Calcium (OsteoMatrix) and she needs 8 Alfalfa with each meal and at bed time. Willa isn’t even considering surgery any more!

Arthritis, Rheumatoid – Sandy “Danced At The Wedding”

Karen, my sister, was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis about 2 years ago. The doctor wanted to put her on some chemotherapy tablets. She would be able to work most of the week and be sick just on weekends. They took x-rays and said that it would just be a matter of time before she would need knee operations and perhaps a wheelchair, because there was no way to stop it. She didn’t consider all this an option.

We talked about it and I told her the research that was being done helping the immune system fight this off, it seems to be ‘buried’ somehow in the system like a latent virus, and under real stress (they had almost lost their home) it kicked in and spread like wild fire through the blood all over the body. With her she went to bed one night with a few aches and pains and woke up the next morning swollen and unable to walk without pain especially in her feet.

I got her to try Shaklee’s Formula I intensely during the course of the day, the Instant Protein, Vita-Lea, and Alfalfa. She started getting results, and we began working with Dr. Scala’s info on diet for Rh.A. what to stay away from especially. She was able to work but by end of the day was getting tired and had some pain. Still she opted for that vs. being really sick. Then the next move was to go to a chiropractor. He said that she cut 5 weeks off his therapy by working with her immune system so quickly. She went into remission, and so far is doing well The doctor said that it must have just gone back into remission for the time being. Joyce doesn’t care where it went as long as it did.

She now works a full day and unless she forgets to keep her nutrition up and gets a few aches and pains every now and then. She does okay. She even danced at her daughters wedding 6 months later.

Her testimony was so good that another person sponsored in to try a similar program…she worked with the Formula 1, Vita lea and Instant Protein, couldn’t get her to try the Alfalfa. She also had great results, and can put in a full day at school if she keeps those items up in particular. Her sister was so amazed at the results; she joined Shaklee to use the products to stay healthy.

Another thing we checked was Joyce’s drinking water for too much copper. The level seemed to be fine. But research we found suggested that some people have a tendency to store copper at higher levels, so we added zinc to her diet and that seemed to alleviate some more of the pain. A special note: her chiropractor took her off of some of the Shaklee things and replaced them with his glandulars etc. The pain came back. His formulas especially with B’s in them didn’t contain enough or any, pantothenic acid. Without it, the pain and swelling, esp. in her knuckles and hands, came back. Went back on our B’s and the pain and swelling went away. Obviously she told the chiropractor to continue helping her but not to change her Shaklee nutrients.

I hope this helps someone in some way.

Arthritis, Rheumatoid – Stacey “Convinced It Was Shaklee”

Two ½ years ago I was playing golf every weekend, practicing a couple of times a week, working out, life was good and then one day I woke up and couldn’t move. My entire body hurt from head to toe. I was in such agonizing pain I had to call my daughter to come take care of me. I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia, going from one doctor to the next trying to find some relief. At this point I have 4 different doctors and mounting medical bills. The doctors had me on all kinds of prescription medications as well as vitamins and supplements.

I just happened to be watching 60 Minutes and they had a segment on “The Dirty Dozen” where they talked about over 60% of the vitamins and supplements sold on the market today were harmful for us to take and that Consumer Reports had been warning us about this for years.

I asked all of my doctors about it and the each said it was true, but each gave me conflicting advice on what to do about it. My daughter and I went to some fancy health food store here in San Francisco, I spent over $200.00 came home with 7 different bottles vitamins and supplements and realized I still had no idea if these vitamins contained any of “The Dirty Dozen”. This started my research of the supplement industry!

One day I happened to be talking to my dear friend Kaki O”Shaughnessy and she asked me if I had ever heard of Shaklee. My dear friend could tell that I was in bad shape and she graciously sent me Vitalizer, Vivix, NutriFeron and Energy Soy Protein Shake and said “Stacey, just trust me.”

I went to visit Kaki about 3 months later and said “Kak I have a surprise for you, I have been pain free for a whole month!” Kaki was elated I was excited but still not 100% convinced.

I ran out of products and didn’t have the money at the time to purchase more and I found myself in the hospital in unbearable pain once again. I began taking the Shaklee products again and what do you know I was feeling much better; so much better I was convinced it was the Shaklee products that were finally making the difference. I have been able to stop taking several of my prescription medications!

I know that Shaklee offers the purest and safest products available so I started my own Shaklee Business in April 2011, so I could share my story with others!

Sincerely,

Stacey Reynolds-Perterson

Joint Pain – Andrea “No More Pain”

After spending over $1,000 at the orthopedic specialist’s office, without receiving a guarantee that he could fore-go surgery, my husband asked me to order the Shaklee products mentioned above. I had told him about these after the first visit with the doctor.

My husband has received 2 shots of something supposedly superior to the old-fashioned cortisone shots. Well, although he had some relief immediately after the shots, his pain diminished only somewhat but he still had limited motion in his arm. The doctor said he had a problem with what’s called the rotator cuff, and surgery would inevitably have to follow.

Well, after a little over one week with the Joint and Pain Relief (Joint Health) supplements, my husband comes home from work with a great, big grin. He says, “It’s almost too good to be true. I don’t even want to say it, but I have almost no pain at all!” The great thing about this, in addition to not having pain, is that he can move is arm around, all he wants, and has full motion.

He works one day a week a double shift at the restaurant, where he’s a cook. He had to stop working the double shifts because he’s come home in such pain that he almost could not go to work the following day. Now, he comes home after a double shift, experiencing minimal pain, the usual anyone would feel after 12 hours in the kitchen! So, needless to say, Joint and Pain Relief supplements are here to stay in this household. Once his order is filled, I will set him up on an automatic shipment.

I mentioned this to my sister, whose husband is a glacier, and as such, he works long hours working with glass. He’s been in terrible pain lately and my sister asked me to order these products for him. He’s going to give them a try and, if they work for him as they have for my husband, they’ll be on automatic shipment too! (As it is, my bro-in law takes the Vita-Lea and just placed his second order. My sister, who is diabetic and has a thyroid condition, just ordered the Immunity Formula I.)

I’m very happy and satisfied with these results for my husband, and my brother-in-law is, too, since he’s ordered his second supply. I expect to see wonderful results with the Gentle Sleep Relief my husband has just ordered, and I’ll keep you posted in that regard.

Thanks for everything you do!
Andrea

Joint Pain – Merle “We Have a Winner”

On Saturday I could hardly walk because of the pain in my knee. I had injured it in a car accident many year’s ago and sometimes it really plays up. I had to cut short my shopping trip as I could barely walk. When I arrive home the Joint and Muscle Cream had arrived from Shaklee. I rubbed it into my knee and in less than 10 minutes the pain was gone. I could hardly believe it. It was exciting to be pain free. Today I told my son about what had happened. He had injured his arm in weight lifting so he tried the cream. When he went to lift tonight, he didn’t have any pain for the first time. His trainer asked him about it and now he wants to try it. We really have a winner.

Enthusiastically,

Merle

Joint Pain – Joy “ Swelling Gone Down Considerably”

Until I read a number of VIVIX Testimonials, I did not take VIVIX seriously. But two weeks after I started taking it faithfully every day, I noticed that the swelling on the tops of my fingers and at the sides of the joints had gone down considerably. The middle joint of my little finger on my right hand has been much more enlarged than the other joints. It is still out of proportion to other joints, but the swelling reduction is huge.

Another unexpected benefit of VIVIX is that the lines in my neck continue to disappear. My sister told me that my “jowls are gone.” My appetite has also diminished. And I am beginning to see dark roots in my hair where only white has come for years. Both my hair and my skin are softer and silkier.

I am not a vain person so these last visible results alone would not have been a reason for me to use VIVIX. But these in combination with the joint results have surprised me beyond anything I could have imagined. Not to mention what all is going on inside where it is not visible. I have used many Shaklee supplements for approximately 28 years and know I am healthy because of that. But I have to say VIVIX really tops it all for me.

8 Important Vitamins & Minerals for Men

Author: Leigh A. Zaykoski

Men need many vitamins and minerals to keep their health in top shape and to aid in the function of many body processes. If a man’s diet is lacking in these important vitamins and minerals, he may feel tired or experience other health issues. Getting the right amounts of these nutrients is essential for healthy living.

Calcium is important for keeping the heart regulated and for strong bones and teeth. Calcium can be found in milk and other dairy products as well as leafy green vegetables. Calcium can also be purchased in supplement form and is usually combined with magnesium and zinc. Vitamin E is an important antioxidant that helps protect and repair cell membranes and may protect the heart. Nuts and leafy green vegetables are rich with Vitamin E and this vitamin is also available in many supplements.

Magnesium is very important for the proper function of the muscles and also helps with nerve impulse conduction. Dairy products, whole grains, fish, and meat are good sources of Magnesium. Zinc aids in the body’s metabolism, cell function, and good immune function. Zinc can be found in seafood, red meat, and eggs and can often be found packaged with Magnesium in supplement form.

Potassium is a very important mineral to help the heart and kidneys function. Potatoes, yams, and bananas are some foods that are rich in potassium. Supplements can also contain potassium, but it is possible to get too much of this mineral, so it is best to get potassium from your diet. Folic acid is also important for men as it helps with the growth of tissue and production of red blood cells. Green leafy vegetables, oranges, and some whole grains are excellent sources of folic acid.

Selenium is an antioxidant that promotes the function of the heart, muscles, and immune system. Selenium can be found in seafood, nuts, red meat, and whole grains and can also be found in many supplements. Vitamin D is an important mineral because it helps keep bones strong and healthy. It is also important for preventing some types of bone disease. Milk is an excellent source of Vitamin D, along with many other dairy products. Some Vitamin D can come from sun exposure, but you should limit unprotected exposure due to the risk of skin cancer.

Getting enough of these important vitamins and minerals is one step on the way to great health. Be sure to eat vitamin and mineral rich foods so that you can look and feel your best.

Hair Loss Product Reviews 4 Vitamins You Need For Finding A Natural Hair Restoration

Author: DR Moser

Over the last two decades dermatologists have witnessed a steady rise in the amount of men and women suffering with problems with regards to hair thinning. In endeavoring to stop thinning hair it is essential that you understand the underlying reasons why hair loss occurs and what external factors might be causing it. While hereditary factors take part in the greatest part in determining if an individual is certainly going to experience-thinning hair there’s also a number of other factors that can play a role.

I will list a few of the major vitamins that play a role in hair growth and hair re-growth, Reports have shown vitamins to be particularly valuable in restoring your lost hair.

1. Vitamin A

Vitamin A has contributed a big part in producing sebum. Without having it you’ll have dry hair, dandruff and also a thick scalp. All connected with those symptoms could potentially result in hair loss. First and second hand smoke, together with aspirin and quite a few prescribed drugs could prevent Vitamin A assimilation.

On the other end of the spectrum encountering too much sebum blocks strands of hair. So overdosing on A vitamin could actually result in a lot more hair loss. Luckily you can’t really over dose on Vitamin A when you get it from food sources. Mango, Oranges, Carrots, Yams and Squash are wonderful sources of Vitamin A.

2. Vitamin B
